College Prep is time consuming and expensive, given you don't have what all you need for college already. Most colleges should give a list of what is recommended for students to take to campus with them for school. Here are just a few things on my list:
Bathing Suit
Gloves, Scarf(s), Hats
Umbrella
First Aid Kit
Answering Machine
Desk lamp and light bulbs
Sewing Kit
Refrigerator
Now of course not everyone is going to want to take all of these with them. I myself am probably not taking half that list, at least on my first trip up. (I will be coming home monthly so I can what is needed for the next month when I come home). These things can be expensive, but if you think about it, things can be ruled out. For instance, you don't need an answering machine if you have a cell phone with voicemail. Other things are really good to take with you, such as the refrigerator and umbrella. If you want drinks in your room, cold drinks, then it's best to have a refrigerator and you never know when it might rain and you have to get to class still, thus the umbrella.
Budget your expenses when looking for things necessary for college. With a refrigerator or microwave, talk to relatives who might be able to tell you about a sale they saw, or just be on the lookout for sales both in stores and online. If you can get it cheap and it works (and will work for years to come), then get it. If you can't get it yourself, talk to your roommate and see if they would be willing to chip in and help buy it, since you are both in the dorm room.
Other things that need to be done prior to moving, which are more time consuming than expensive, are those things around the house, such as packing up closes and cleaning your room to see what is going to be taken. This should probably be done starting a month before you move in, so you don't buy extras that are unnecessary and that would just be a burden to carry multiples of with you to the dorm.
A suggestion for all college-goers: put together a box of little things that would be good to take with you such as a toothbrush, batteries, or a small sewing kit. This will keep all your little miscellaneous products in one place for when you move. I received a kit like this from a friend as a graduation present and it has everything that I could think of in the way of small things for college.
So, good luck on college prep! If any readers have college prep stories, please share them! =)

Introduction
This is my first blog here and I figure it's time to introduce myself. Right now I'm getting ready to move to college and start that new experience, so to commemorate the event, I'm going to be blogging about college, college life, friends, and anything else that catches my interest there.
If you read this and keep up with it, you'll get to see college through my eyes as well as maybe learn a bit about some other things like art, music, or maybe even computers. We'll see how that goes. There will always be a section at the bottom of my blog for my current music, and possibly projects.
As for now, welcome to blog and once school starts on August 24th, look forward to see college through my eyes!
